Great moments in government relations

Dodgeville Mayor Todd Novak reports on Facebook:

Mayor Todd Novak received a letter yesterday from the Assembly Minority Leader saying he should contact State Representative Todd Novak and tell him what a bad job he is doing.

So, you say? “Mayor D. Novak” and Rep. Novak (R–Dodgeville) are the same person.

Novak adds:

I’m happy to report the Mayor and Representative had a conversation this morning and we both agree the Representative is doing a pretty good job.

Barca, to no one’s surprise, is trying to get 51st Assembly District voters to remove Rep. Novak from office after he was elected in 2014. One assumes that Mayor Novak will be voting for Rep. Novak in November.

This is additionally ironic given that Democrats discover the virtue of local control when they’re not in charge in the Legislature. The non-partisan truth is that most politicians believe decisions should be made at the level at which the decision comes out the way they want that decision to come out.

Barca, by the way, is one of the finalists for the Politician You’d Be Most Likely to Punch Out If You Met Him in Person award. That may be an uncivil statement.
